The Maverick Marching Band held its band camp practices more than a week before classes started. The summer sun beat down on the musicians as they trained from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Many students that attended the camp for the first time said it was more supportive and a calmer environment compared to their past band experience. “You have better relationships with everyone. You are going to see these people for the next four years no matter what,” music education sophomore Izzie Holland said. Overall, the students are excited to have a show featuring songs from the rock band Queen. The show is titled “Bohemian Rhapsody: The Music of Queen”. The camp ended with a performance at the MavsMeet Convocation at the beginning of the semester, where the band’s performance closed out the event.
