The UT System Board of Regents named James Milliken as the sole finalist for the position of chancellor for the UT System in a special called meeting Saturday.

Milliken, former chancellor of The City University of New York, succeeds William McRaven, who stepped down from his position as UT System chancellor in May. Since then, Larry Faulkner, former UT-Austin president, has served as interim chancellor.

A vote to officially appoint Milliken will be made at a later meeting following a 21-day waiting period mandated by the state, vice chairman Jeffery Hildebrand said.
