UTA softball head coach receives contract extension

Head coach Peejay Brun talks to assistant coach Bobby Buchanan during the game against University of Arkansas on March 26 at Allan Saxe Field. Brun signed a contract extension to keep her at UTA through the 2022 season.

The UTA softball team’s coaching staff is taking form for the upcoming 2020 season. Head coach Peejay Brun signed a contract extension Thursday keeping her at UTA through the 2022 season.

Brun led the Mavericks to a National Invitational Softball Championship title last season, as well as tallying two consecutive 30-plus win seasons as head coach.

During the 2019 season, UTA defeated four ranked teams — No. 16 Baylor University twice, No. 13 University of Arkansas and No. 13 Oklahoma State University.

Additionally, Miranda Kramer was hired Wednesday as a new assistant coach for pitching following three seasons at Syracuse University. Kramer was a pitching specialist with the Orange, helping pitchers reach All-Conference and All-American honors.
