Men’s golf places 11th in season opener at All-American Intercollegiate

A 22-over-par outing led the men’s golf team to an 11th-place finish in its spring opener Tuesday at the All-American Intercollegiate in Humble, Texas.

UTA registered scores of 298-296-292 in the competition and finished at 4-over in the tournament’s final round. Sophomore Kyle Cox paced the Mavericks with 1-over 217 finish to tie for 26th place.

Freshman Daniel Cronje tied for 44th at 6-over, while junior Paul Gonzalez followed one stroke behind to tie for 50th place. [CQD: roster]AV[CQD: golfstat player link]AV

Sophomore Caleb Hicks and junior Zach Cole rounded out the scoring for UTA, tying for 59th and placing 80th, respectively.

The men’s golf team will continue its spring season at the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate this weekend in Palm Desert, California.
